Fohlin Law (Sw. Advokatfirman Håkan Fohlin) is an internationally oriented independent law firm focusing on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and commercial contracts.
Clients range from entrepreneurs and family-owned businesses to international corporations, investors and international law firms, as well as Swedish law firms. They rely on my experience in both day-to-day corporate matters and commercial agreements, as well as in complex transactions including cross-border M&A, venture capital and private equity investments.
Following a 35-year career at one of Sweden’s most distinguished law firms, including serving as managing partner, I established Fohlin Law to continue advising Swedish and international clients with direct access to senior expertise and guaranteed partner-level attention.
Clients value the opportunity to work directly with a senior lawyer offering decades of commercial experience, dedicated client attention and access to a network of trusted legal advisers when broader expertise or additional resources are required.
My work has been recognised repeatedly by Who’s Who Legal as an “Expert and Leader in M&A” and by IFLR1000, where I am ranked as a Notable Practitioner in M&A.
Media:
– Interview by Dagens Industri, Sweden’s leading financial daily, about my practice and the development of the Swedish legal market and the use of AI (2023)
– Interview with Swedish legal magazine Dagens Juridik on the (2026) on Mergermarket league tables: international law firm giants Latham & Watkins, Paul Weiss and Kirkland & Ellis, rank among the top advisers on Sweden’s largest M&A deals in 2025. So what? Does foreign competition threaten Sweden’s leading law firms? “Foreign Mega Law Firms Are No Threat – Sweden Is a Fly-In Market.”
I advise Swedish and international clients on corporate matters, commercial agreements and transactions, including the sale of businesses and the admission of new investors into companies and joint ventures.
International law firms, corporate clients and investors frequently engage me for advice on Swedish law in cross-border matters. I regularly act as Swedish counsel in international transactions and investments and work closely with foreign law firms on both inbound and outbound referrals.
Where matters require broader expertise or additional resources, I coordinate teams of carefully selected Swedish and international lawyers. This structure is particularly relevant in litigation and commercial arbitration in Sweden (SCC Arbitration Institute), where I collaborate with experienced arbitration counsel.
My international network has been developed through decades of work within The World Law Group — a Chambers-ranked global network of law firms — including six years of service on its board, as well as through regular participation in International Bar Association conferences.
My practice spans a broad range of industries, including transactions in the venture capital, private equity and technology sectors. Clients include Wallenius, Soya Group, the Wenner-Gren Foundations, Moody’s, Harvard, Alibaba, Tata and Silicon Valley venture capital firms, among others.
